it looks fried; frizzy and dried out. the looser curls looked marginally better, i suppose,,,but still; isnt dyeing one's Natural hair something POC just Ain't Sposed Ta Do? not at this juncture of space, time and history...right?
cuz it must mean the WOC in question wants to look EURO, look white...and nordic at that.
so i don't get how someone of your stance, your politics, etc, would do it even if it DID look good.
This isn't my hair. I was going for a Chaka Khan/Diana Ross/Sahara-at-dusk look. Not the Nordic look...sorry to disappoint you.
@ everyone else
Today I go back to my twists. The lil sis is a bit disappointed but like I told her before, I'm a braids/twists girl. I've also decided to go back to doing them myself; I've noticed that when you do your own hair, there tends to be less bickering and debating over the details.
You automatically defaulted to her wanting to be Euro. Even though the texture is kinky. I thought she was trying to be like the African Dinka who dye their blond and have been doing it for millennium or the some of the Aborginal Australians who have naturally blond hair, to the surprise and disgust of the European invaders and land thieves. I guess it depends on one's mindset.
Many black Africans across the continent also have naturally blond hair, ranging from straight to kinky in texture. It's no surprise; dark hair often lightens in summer, and since it's summer pretty much all year round in Africa....
And oh yes, black Africans are the only people on earth who have the genetic information to produce the features which everyone else has.

Case in point... here; and here. I was going to hold comment on your hair for it’s not my business how a woman prefers to wear her crown. (Learned that after 29 yrs. of marriage to a beautician) Have you thought about a darker umber/sienna with a touch of red-- similar to the shadows just above your left eyebrow? I think it would make for a wonderful contrast; moreover, the hint of red ochre would complement your skin tone.
Anything darker than what you had is fine... I think what you lacked was 'contrast'. The purpose of your crown is to complement/frame those riveting eyes, those ripe cheeks-- and those thick sensuous lips; not overshadow them.
It was ok before, but now it's flawless. You pull off the blond Diana Ross look VERY well, Ank!
ReplyDeleteMuch better. :)I can actually believe it now and of course the curls and color go well with your face. Nicely done.
ReplyDeleteVery nice.
ReplyDeleteIf I'm being completely honest, I was more partial to your darker hair, actually. The blond works, but...meh. *shrugs*
ReplyDeleteI think the blond works as well, but I foresee darkness in my future.
ReplyDeletefrankly..NO. not better.

Just unnecessary and rude.

ReplyDeleteWell, it is Randy. Normally I wouldn't even bother posting such a comment, but he brought a point which I felt needed addressing.

ReplyDeleteThanks, darling, but I put my braids back in this week, and I've gone back to black. Pictures will be up soon.
Randy, you may want to stick a toe in the water to test its temperature before you jump in. Just a suggestion.
