So I'm thinkin' about gettin' a weave.
A curly weave, to be exact.
My initial apprehension towards weave came from the fact that I didn't want to look like some desperate black woman trying to look like a white reality TV "star". I don't want no "gold-digger" weave. I want some Negro-and-damn-proud-of-it weave. With African hair and a bounty of coils that would bring tears to the eyes of Chaka Khan her damn self. I'm talking a big, bouncy, wild, tangled crazy mess of a weave.
I just found out they make those, and I want me some kink the color of the Sahara at dusk.

something called "kinky twists" seems to be pretty popular with the online natural hair community. Search for reviews of it on youtube. Basically it looks like 2 strand twist with afro textured hair.
ReplyDeleteDO IT! :D
ReplyDeleteI say go for it! There are some very nice natural looking extensions out there. Now if your looking for a nice kinky curly texture that will last, your might have to spend a little extra, though it will be worth it in the end because you'll be able to get a couple of uses out of it. allaboutmyhair.com sells some lovely kinky curly hair, though it does shed somewhat. There are many pictures of it if you google. I came across this fotki of the hair installed : http://public.fotki.com/HairMe/aamh-kinky-curl-install/ . http://realhairexclusive.com Also carries some very natural looking Afro kinky hair http://realhairexclusive.com/shop/item/12371/CURLY-KINKI-AFRO-HANDTIED-WEAVE Good luck!:)
ReplyDeleteMy advice is just take good care of your hair no matter what you put in it.
ReplyDeleteAs a former weave-wearer, far be it from me to tell any sista not to partake of the snappy yakki. Just make sure you take care of your hair and scalp and get some quality hair. I'd do it with you, but I'm finally getting to a place where I truly adore my natural hair.
ReplyDeleteGet it!
That would REALLY suit you. Like, really...Talk about the image of African goddess.
ReplyDeleteYou're going to look lovely no matter what you decide.
ReplyDeleteAwwww...thanks, everyone! And thanks for the info, Sleepytime!
ReplyDeleteGO for it.I really like the one on the model.I tried weave once and it was a huge fail, and I never did it again. If I try it I will use curly-kinky hair texture.

ReplyDeleteI'm diggin' her weave as well.
